May 29, IRNA -- Iranian football international and
Hamburg forward Mehdi Mahdavikia is in a
"satisfactory condition" following a back
surgery and will "soon" be able to practice
again, Mahdavikia's surgeon here Wednesday told IRNA during a phone interview. Professor Nematian disputed German press reports on Tuesday which said Mahdavikia would miss the 2002/3 Bundesliga opener in August as a result of the complicated back surgery. The former Pirouzi player had already a disc operation last February and has not played for Hamburg since then.The Iranian striker played his last match for Hamburg on February 16 during his team's 2-1 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach. Mahdavikia whose contract runs until 2004, has repeatedly been the subject of trade rumors in the German media. |
